Dr. Steven Nissen, MD, of Kaiser Permanente, in Los Angeles, said his team decided to stop advertising Viagra for two reasons: the drug's side effects and the potential for the medication to be used off-label. He said the FDA has warned doctors and patients about the risks of taking Viagra, which is currently the only prescription drug for treating erectile dysfunction.
“It is not safe,” Nissen said, adding, “I’m not sure what other people are going to think of this story.”
